IHK-Award for M.sc. Alexander Voelz

We congratulate our Master's student Mr. Alexander Voelz for receiving the IHK Award 2025 for practical research. He was honored for his master's thesis on "Development of methods for the suppression of moiré in camera-based display measurement technology".

Displays play a central role in almost all technical devices today. Camera systems are used to precisely evaluate their quality. However, the so-called moiré effect - an undesirable pattern that occurs when certain display structures are recorded and distorts the measurement results - can interfere with this. Alexander Voelz's award-winning work is dedicated to the further development of methods to reliably suppress this effect. Based on a newly presented mathematical model, he analyzes and improves existing methods and also presents his own new approach.

The work was carried out in cooperation with Ilmenau-based TechnoTeam GmbH and is an example of successful collaboration between science and regional industry.
