Ilmenau Children's and Youth University – virtual and on site

In November, the Children's and Youth University Ilmenau takes place this year hybrid, i.e. virtually and on site at the Technische Universität Ilmenau. On six eventful days, pupils from eight to 15 years of age can get to know not only science but also everyday university life from real professors and students. The Children's and Youth University is mainly financed by donations and is free of charge. Registration for individual children, school classes and groups after the summer holidays at www.kinderuni-ilmenau.de.

For more than 15 years, the Children's and Youth University Ilmenau has been taking place every late autumn for children and young people with a thirst for knowledge, and this year it is once again opening its doors as a change from the daily school routine. However, in view of the Corona pandemic, the events of one of the largest children's and youth universities in Germany cannot yet take place on site again. As last year, participants can expect a colorful virtual offering in 2021, with age-appropriate lectures as livestreams and exciting experimental videos. Children can also look forward to a virtual campus tour and little surprises from mascot "Juhu". But quite a few students will also be able to romp around the university campus again: According to the current status, between 50 and 100 participants per event could experience the TU Ilmenau on site.

The Children's and Youth University will start on 10 and 12 November 2021 with lectures for children in 3rd and 4th grade. On November 17 and 19, the events for 5th and 6th grade students will follow. And the Youth University for 7th to 9th grade students will be held on November 24 and 26.
