TU Ilmenau/ariOn June 20, the whole of Ilmenau will become a stage for science and technology: starting at 5 p.m., the TU Ilmenau, the city of Ilmenau, the Ilm district, and the Thüringer Bogen invite you to the Ilmenau Science Night. In over 170 program items, the partners, together with companies and institutes from the region, will bring the fascinating world of science and technology to life for all age groups – and get to the heart of even the most complex topics: vividly, excitingly, and interactively. With the exception of the opening concert by the Thuringia Philharmonic Orchestra, all events at the Ilmenau Science Night are free of charge.
For the seventh time, the Ilmenau Science Night on Saturday, June 20, will transform the city into a living science laboratory from 5 p.m. onwards and bathe the whole of Ilmenau in a special light – from the TU Ilmenau campus to the Am Vogelherd industrial park and the city center.
To kick off this major event, guests can look forward to a special musical highlight at 3 p.m.: Under the motto “Music Meets Science,” the Thuringia Philharmonic Orchestra Gotha-Eisenach, together with the Chamber Choir of the TU Ilmenau, will present a concert specially designed for the Ilmenau Science Night in the Auditorium Maximum, the university's largest lecture hall.
TU Ilmenau/ariThe institutes and groups of TU Ilmenau and numerous partners demonstrate just how exciting research and technology can be in over 170 program items when they open their laboratories, demonstrate experiments, and give presentations on mathematics, natural sciences, technology, economics, and media—for visitors to watch, participate in, and marvel at. There is also plenty for children and families to discover, from a stamp rally and hands-on activities to an escape room. For the first time, the city of Ilmenau is also giving everyone a glimpse into the technology and charging infrastructure of Terminal M at the train station before the new parking garage opens.
But the Ilmenau Science Night is not only informative; with a study information lounge, an alumni lounge, a varied stage program, and numerous culinary offerings, it is also an experience for all the senses.
The program for the Ilmenau Science Night and information on the individual events and ticket sales for the Thuringia Philharmonic concert will be available from mid-April at www.ilmenauer-wissenschaftsnacht.de. Thanks to LineUpr GmbH, visitors can now conveniently download the program to their smartphones via an app and plan their own personal discovery tour. This allows them to experience everything that makes Ilmenau and the region so special in one evening: an impressive variety of science, business, and innovation.
The seventh edition of this science adventure for the whole family is presented by strong economic partners who exemplify state-of-the-art high-tech applications, innovative materials, and the energy supply of the future: Micro-Epsilon Ceramics GmbH, SCHOTT AG, TEAG Thüringer Energie AG, and Stadtwerke Ilmenau GmbH.
