June 4–13: Intercultural Week at the TU Ilmenau and throughout the city

Intercultural Week will take place from June 4 to 13 at the TU Ilmenau and throughout the city. Organized by the student association Initiative Solidarische Welt Ilmenau, the event—under the motto “Internationalization—Of Course!”—focuses on internationalization in German higher education and the challenges it presents. In addition to a student conference in the first half of the week, Intercultural Week offers a diverse cultural program in the second half of the week featuring dance, music, and games on the university campus and throughout the city. 

Intercultural Week 2026, taking place from June 4 to 13, is dedicated to the topic of the internationalization of German universities. Its motto: “Internationalization? Of course!” It is organized by the Initiative Solidarische Welt Ilmenau, a non-profit student association founded in 1992 with the goal of speaking out against social injustice, racism, and intolerance, and promoting intercultural tolerance and mutual understanding.

June 4–7: International Student Week “Internationalization – Of Course!”

During the first half of the week, from June 4 to 7, 125 international students from all over Germany will gather at the Technical University of Ilmenau to discuss the topic of internationalization at German universities, share experiences, and identify practical solutions through workshops, group work, and lectures. The “International Student Week in Ilmenau,” which takes place every two years in Ilmenau, is the largest student conference of its kind in Germany.

 

June 9–13: International Culture on Campus and in Ilmenau

The second half of the week, from June 9 to 13, offers a varied cultural program on the university campus and throughout the city, not only for the university community but for the entire population of Ilmenau. Through cultural dance and music events, as well as activities and events centered on languages, food, games, and sports, the Solidarische Welt Ilmenau initiative aims to promote intercultural exchange among everyone. Participants are encouraged to get to know one another and develop a better understanding of each other’s cultures. Program: https://icw.iswi.org/kultur
