Light is an essential element of our lives. Many life processes are dependent on solar radiation. The day-night rhythm determines our actions and our well-being. In his lecture at the TU Ilmenau Citizens' Campus, Prof. Peter Scharff, Head of the Group of Chemistry, will talk about the physical and chemical principles of light phenomena. Both the waves and the particle nature of light play a role here. Indeed, in certain experiments, light is found to be an electromagnetic wave, while in other experiments it is a light particle.
Prof. Peter Scharff, who will be accompanied by Dr. Dirk Schulze from the Institute of Physics at TU Ilmenau, will use experiments to illustrate the duality of the phenomenon of light. Beyond our everyday experience, there are many phenomena associated with light. Prof. Scharff will also address these in his lecture.
