In their study of plural governance the two authors expand transaction cost theory by including a temporal perspective. Unlike classical transaction cost theory, the model they have developed takes historical make-or-buy decisions made by the company as the starting point for the analysis. In addition, a distinction is made between suppliers and employees in terms of their potential opportunistic behavior, which must be assessed in relation to market uncertainty in upstream and downstream markets, respectively.
The discussions and feedback received in Copenhagen will now be incorporated into the revision of the manuscript for a journal submission.
