On May 10, the Technische Universität Ilmenau cordially invites high school students, their parents and all interested parties to a study information day

On May 10, the Technische Universität Ilmenau cordially invites high school students, their parents and anyone else who is interested to the Open Day. On the open day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about the university, the courses on offer and campus life. Enrolment for all Bachelor's degree courses is possible without numerus clausus until September 15. Information and program:www.tu-ilmenau.de/hit

The study information day begins at 10 a.m. in the Humboldtbau, the largest teaching and event building at TU Ilmenau. Prospective students can find out all about the various degree courses and their content in personal discussions at information and advice stands. There will also be presentations on each course with the opportunity to ask questions afterwards. Throughout the day, staff from the University and Studierendenwerk Thüringen will be available in the Humboldt Building to answer questions about application, enrolment, accommodation and student finance.

Laboratory tours and workshops provide insights into research projects

A special highlight of the day are the interactive laboratory tours and workshops, where visitors can experience current research topics such as robotics, virtual reality, autonomous driving and sustainability up close. These demonstrations offer the opportunity to try out the results of applied research projects for themselves. The role that mathematics, engineering and natural sciences play in our everyday lives will also be answered at the study information day so that prospective students can enrol on the right course for them.

Personal discussions with students for first-hand experience reports

Visitors will also be able to talk to students in person and gain first-hand experience of studying and living in Ilmenau. Lectures provide an overview of student life in Ilmenau, staff from the University Sports Center provide information about the sports program and student clubs present the diverse club and cultural scene on campus.

Guided tours of the university campus

During guided tours with students, prospective students can explore the university campus with the buildings, laboratories and institutes of the TU Ilmenau, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Germany. And at 10:15 a.m., a guided tour for children from pre-school age accompanied by their parents starts at the Humboldt Building, where they can experience current research topics specially prepared for them up close: Virtual reality lets them disappear with an invisibility cloak, in the high-voltage laboratory they can marvel at artificial lightning and in laboratories they learn how we can prevent plastic waste. The university radio station hsf will ensure a good atmosphere throughout the open day and the Studierendenwerk will provide catering for visitors.
