privatQUnder the title “Love That Carries Us,” an exhibition by two Ukrainian artists will be on view at the University Library Ilmenau starting May 5. With 22 paintings featuring a wide variety of motifs, which they are exhibiting together, the two women offer visitors a glimpse into their inner worlds. The exhibition will be on view from May 5 through June 13 during the library’s opening hours; admission is free.To mark the end of the exhibition, a festive closing reception will take place on June 12 starting at 6 p.m. in the exhibition area of the University Library.
Love, hope, and the strength that lies within every person are the central themes that Tetiana Fediai and Tetiana Dakhlalla depict in their oil and acrylic paintings. The artists find inspiration for their paintings in the beauty of nature, both in their homeland of Ukraine and in Germany, as well as in personal experiences or in the stories of others.
The artists came to painting through different paths. While Tetiana Fediai graduated with a degree in art education in 2001 and subsequently taught at a university in Ukraine for 20 years, Tetiana Dakhlalla did not begin painting until she was 54. The two Ukrainian women met in Ilmenau, where Tetiana Fediai began volunteering to teach painting to children and adults after fleeing the war. Tetiana Dakhlalla attended one of these classes, and so their friendship—and later their collaboration—developed quite naturally.
The exhibition is presented with the support of the “House of Resources Thüringen” and the City of Ilmenau.
