Matthias SommerOn May 22 at 7:30 p.m., the Ilmenau-based project choir “Echoes of Change” invites you to a benefit concert in the Audimax at the TU Ilmenau. Fifty singers will perform choral pieces, sacred songs, and pop classics such as “Wunder geschehen” by Nena and “Sounds of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel. Admission is free; donations will benefit the nonprofit organization Engineers Without Borders.
The “Echoes of Change” project choir has only been in existence since 2025, but today 50 enthusiastic amateur singers from the Querbeat choir of the Ilm-Kreis Music School and the DaChor choir of the KuKo Cultural Association are coming together to sing – on May 22 at 7:30 p.m., doors open at 7:00 p.m., for a good cause: All proceeds from the concert in the Audimax at TU Ilmenau will go entirely to educational projects run by Engineers Without Borders.
Engineers Without Borders is a nonprofit development cooperation organization whose primary goal is to sustainably improve the living conditions of people in the Global South through technical infrastructure projects. For example, the Ilmenau regional group, which consists mainly of students and staff from the TU Ilmenau, has carried out a project to provide water to schools in Kenya. The engineers in Ilmenau also offer their assistance at the repair workshop for broken electronic devices, which has been in operation since 2014.
