The Elfrun Gabriel Foundation, established in 2012 in memory of the former internationally renowned pianist, supports outstanding young pianists. Every year, a jury selects two musicians from among the best piano students at the Leipzig University of Music and Drama "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" and supports them with a one-year scholarship. The two young pianists are supported in various ways at the beginning of their careers, for example with participation in international competitions and performance opportunities, traditionally also at the TU Ilmenau. This year, the two music students Yeram Park and and Daon Choi received the coveted scholarship.

The South Korean Yeram Park, born in 1996, studied in the capital Seoul and in Munich before she came to Leipzig to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in the master class of Prof. Christian A. Pohl. Among numerous other prizes, she won second prize at the International Piano Competition in Épinal, France, and the Classic Pure International Piano Competition in Vienna. Yeram Park has given numerous piano recitals at music festivals and for radio broadcasts, including in Germany, France and South Korea. After auditioning, she was accepted into the Elfrun Gabriel Foundation's sponsorship program.
