In June 2026, the Media and Communication Management Group was present in the European Media Management Association (emma) conference, which was hosted at LUT University in Lappeenranta. The conference with the theme “Media Protecting Democracy and Building Trust in a Divided and Fragmented World” offered a space for interdisciplinary dialogue on contemporary issues facing the media sector.
The group made four contributions covering these themes across journalism, consumer behavior, corporate and media responsibility:
- Jonas Weber delivered a presentation on “Reflecting on the Own Future: A Content Analysis of How German Journalism Views Its Future Against the Background of Platforms”. He also participated in the PhD workshop, gaining valuable insights in the process.
- Jasmin Ebert-Pappert introduced her project “Integrating Behavioral Constructs and Preferences in Mobile Plan Choice”.
- Andreas Will contributed to “Sensemaking of Media CSR in Crisis: A Strategic Process?” with Anke Trommershausen, Bianca Harms, and Päivi Maijanen. This study is part of the Media CSR initiative EMERRG.
- Miriam Bernhard participated in a collaborative study with Natalia Berger, Antonia Matei, Dagmara Sidyk-Furman, and François Nel, with the title “Emotional Dynamics in Journalistic Practices: A Social Materiality Perspective in Context of Datafication”.
Finally, the group extends its gratitude to the organizing team for putting together an outstanding and intellectually enriching conference.
