Science Communication in the CCS Group

Over the past few months, Max Schindler from the CCS Group has been involved in various forms of science communication, introducing school pupils to current research topics.

In early June, he visited the UniverSaale comprehensive school in Jena to give a talk on the topic ‘Smart Cities Revisited: Utopian Visions and Dystopian Risks?’. There, he spoke to Year 11 pupils about sustainable urban development and provided insights into the research carried out by the CCS Group.

Also in June, Max Schindler took part in a discussion session organised by the ‘I’m a Scientist’ initiative. This digital science communication platform enables pupils from across Germany to engage directly with researchers – this session focused on the topic of artificial intelligence.

In a total of eight live chats, he answered questions on a wide range of topics: from the scientific principles of AI and its societal impacts to personal insights into everyday research life. The discussions offered an exciting opportunity to explain complex topics in an accessible way and to inspire young people to take an interest in science and technology.
