Successful Defense

Today, Mohammad Sharifi Ghazijahani successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Echo State Networks for Turbulence Modeling". Mohammad showed that relatively simple reservoir computing models can be applied to predict or model turbulence in time and space. He could also show how the hyperparameters depend on the flow physics by experimentally investigating flows with different complexity ranging from single cylinder wake to complex thermal convection. During his time at the Institute of Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics he authored eight papers and contributed to two others.
