Stiftung Elfrun Gabriel
Moeko Ezaki

The foundation, established in 2012 by IPOL GmbH Ilmenau and Prof. Dr. Herfried M. Schneider in memory of the internationally renowned artist Elfrun Gabriel, supports outstanding young pianists. Each year, a jury selects two young musicians from among the best piano students at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig to receive a one-year scholarship in the amount of the Deutschlandstipendium. The two young talents are also supported in various ways at the beginning of their careers, for example by helping them to take part in international competitions and providing them with opportunities to perform. This year, the South Korean Hyelee Kang and Moeko Ezaki from Japan received the coveted scholarship - Hyelee Kang for the second time.

Moeko Ezaki graduated from Japan's highly regarded Toho Music High School in 2012 with top grades and went on to study at both the bachelor's and master's levels at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Since march 2019 she has been enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig in the master class of Prof. Gerald Fauth.
