Starting Monday, April 19, 2021, Technische Universität Ilmenau will open a Corona Test Center on its campus. The SARS-CoV-2 rapid tests are free of charge and are available not only to students and employees of TU Ilmenau, but also to all citizens of the Ilm district once a week. The test center in the campus sports hall, Ehrenbergstraße 51, will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments can be made online: www.medazon.de. The test dates are timed so that people can get tested spontaneously without an appointment. Those who get tested receive the results, noted on a certificate, right on the spot after just 15 minutes. The tests have a safety rate of over 95 percent.

The new campus test centre is operated by Medazon GmbH, a medical device manufacturer from Arnstadt, and is a joint initiative of the university administration of the TU Ilmenau and the district administration of the Ilm district. Prof. Kai-Uwe Sattler, President of the TU Ilmenau, is convinced that rapid tests are of great benefit in the fight against the further spread of the Corona virus: "With the establishment of the campus test centre in premises of the TU Ilmenau, we would like to contribute to the early detection of Covid 19 infections. I therefore ask all university members and all citizens to actively use this free opportunity to obtain certainty about an infection."
