"Protection is useful - with patents, trademarks & co. to (corporate) success" - under this motto, an information event will take place on March 5, 3 p.m., at the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce for all those who want to know how they can protect their intellectual property. PATON | Landespatentzentrum Thüringen at the TU Ilmenau, the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office will provide in-depth information on how patents, trade marks and domain names can help to secure a competitive advantage. Managing directors and employees from companies, founders, independent inventors, employees and students from universities and all interested parties are invited. Participation is free of charge. Registration: sabine.milde@tu-ilmenau.de

Companies that own intellectual property have better chances in competition than companies that do not register such rights - this is confirmed by a large-scale study on industrial property rights conducted by the European IP institutions EPO and EUIPO. According to the study, companies with intellectual property rights, i.e. patents, trademarks or design protection, generate 24 percent more turnover per employee than companies without such property rights - depending on the industry, company size and location, the competitive advantage can even be as high as 41 percent. Small and medium-sized enterprises, which are predominant in Thuringia, have the greatest advantages through IP rights. However, only around 10 percent of small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Union register their intellectual property rights. The companies that do so generate 44 percent more turnover per employee.

"Protection is useful - with patents, trademarks & co. to (corporate) success" - under this motto, PATON | Landespatentzentrum Thüringen, the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office will spend an afternoon on March 5 providing information on the possibilities of protecting intellectual property. Managing directors and employees from companies, founders, independent inventors, employees and students from universities and all interested parties will learn all about protection through patents, trademarks, designs and domain names.
