TU Ilmenau offers comprehensive support: from the call for applications and the appointment procedure to welcoming and supporting the newly appointed.
As a family-friendly university, we provide support in finding nursery and kindergarten places. With the crèche directly on campus and a kindergarten close to campus, there are short distances to the workplace. Family support is also provided, for example, by our campus family office, which offers advice, flexible childcare and support for conference trips.
As part of our Dual Career Service, we provide support in the search for a career opportunity for your partner in and around Ilmenau. In doing so, we make use of the existing network in Thuringia.
The Executive Board invites all newly appointed professors to a meeting at which the members of the Executive Board introduce themselves and their areas of responsibility and talk to the newly appointed professors. At this event, the need for further education and training opportunities is determined and a program of further education events is then designed for specific target groups.
In addition, the Vice President for Research and Junior Academics invites the newly appointed to regular meetings. Lunch talks on administrative topics, such as procurement and human resources, are held to clarify specific internal university issues. At the same time, the newly appointed professors are invited to give their inaugural lecture at the Ilmenau Science Forum and to network with other colleagues.
