Paper Presentation at IEEE ISMAR 2022

As part of the METAREAL project, a paper entitled: Investigating User Embodiment of Inverse-Kinematic Avatars in Smartphone Augmented Reality was presented at the IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality. The paper by Elhassan Makled, Florian Weidner and Wolfgang Broll describes propose ARIKA, a tracking solution for avatars in smartphone AR. ARIKA uses tracking information from ARCore to track the users hand position and to calculate a pose using Inverse Kinematics (IK). The paper further provides a comparison between ARIKA and a commercial motion tracking system and compare both systems with respect to sense of agency, self-location, and body-ownership.
