Third place in the Young Scientist Competition at the Workshop Biosignals 2026 in Innsbruck

BMTI PhD student Laureen Wegert wins second place in the student competition at the workshop Biosignals 2024 in Göttingen.

Hannes Oppermann

At this year's Biosignals workshop in Innsbruck, M.Sc. Hannes Oppermann, a doctoral student at BMTI, won third place in the Young Scientist Competition.

In his contribution “Alpha-Band Entrainment and Resonance Effects during Intermittent Photic Stimulation in Single-Trial EEG,” he examines how the human brain responds to rhythmic visual stimulation. Using single-trial analyses, he investigated the EEG signals in the time-frequency domain. In doing so, he successfully identified and characterized transient events that remain hidden in conventional averaging methods. This research makes an important contribution to the understanding of so-called “photic driving” effects.

The work was carried out in the group of Biomedical Engineering as part of the PollenNet project.
