Solidarity with Ukraine and support for those affected

TU Ilmenau is following the events in Ukraine with dismay, consternation, and sadness.

"We explicitly condemn the Russian aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, we must and shall unequivocally defend the idea of a worldwide community of teachers, researchers, and students and demonstrate our will for peace, freedom, and democracy." Prof. Kai-Uwe Sattler

In a statement to students and staff on February 24, 2022, the university administration expressed its deep sympathy with all those affected and its solidarity with all people who advocate peace, international understanding, and democracy.

Support for those affected

Shortly after the beginning of the fighting, the Initiative Solidarische Welt Ilmenau e.V..(ISWI e. V. ) and other campus-related associations started an aid campaign for the people in Ukraine, and the university extended its support offers for all affected students and employees. At this point we would like to give you an overview of current support offers and possibilities of engagement.

"In our mission statement, TU Ilmenau commits itself to 'peaceful, solidary and collegial cooperation and respect for all people, regardless of their social or ethnic origin'. Let's take this sentence very seriously and not let the global political upheavals undermine the foundation of our togetherness!"

Prof. Kai-Uwe Sattler
