In its recently adopted Strategic Development Goals, TU Ilmenau commits to "a strong concept of sustainability that gives top priority to the protection of the natural foundations of life, because a good life for all is only possible if our natural foundations of life are preserved and, building on this, social peace is ensured."
What does this commitment mean in everyday life at the university? What does the university do to live up to this high standard? What research is carried out at the university to achieve these goals? What role does sustainability play in the teaching of the various degree programs? What is the university doing to make the campus and life on campus sustainable? And the students? Are students interested in sustainability issues and are they committed to making the university more sustainable?
Is TU Ilmenau the only university in Thuringia that has made sustainability a priority, or is there cooperation with other universities? And what about international contacts? Who does TU Ilmenau work with internationally on sustainability issues?
And last but not least: What is the university doing to ensure that the topic of sustainability is discussed in a present way at the university, so that sustainability criteria are taken into account in decision-making in all areas? What is the university doing to inform society, companies and local authorities about the results of its research into sustainability and its efforts towards a sustainable community?
