The energy transition and the fundamental restructuring of the energy supply system that it requires are introducing uncertainties into the system. Science, politics and society are looking for answers.
The scientific colloquium will focus on questions of technical security and how the media, society, business and politics are dealing with the new uncertainty. From the perspective of energy technology, we will look at the adaptation of protection concepts to ensure that the supply continues to function without endangering people and infrastructure, how grid stability can be guaranteed under conditions of fluctuating feed-in, how security of supply can be ensured every second, 365 days a year and how storage technologies and flexibilization can contribute to security of supply. We are delighted that our renowned colleague Prof. Deerberg from Fraunhofer UMSICHT has agreed to attend and look forward to his presentation "Kann Kohlenstoff Klimaschutz" on 29.9.2025.
In addition to a poster exhibition with Best Poster Award, the ThEFI will present its current research work in short lectures. We cordially invite you to the TU Ilmenau.
The conference language is German.

The Thuringian Energy Research Institute - ThEFI for short - brings together twelve specialist areas from four faculties at Ilmenau University of Technology in the spirit of interdisciplinary research. The focus here is on the transfer of knowledge and the further development of research expertise in all areas of energy, environmental and systems technology, both in-house and with scientific partners. The ThEFI's areas of activity include not only the research and development of energy-related processes, but also the corresponding marketing of research results in cooperation with industrial companies and associations.
