Hydrogen, the lightest element of the periodic table, has recently become more and more the focus of public attention, since it offers itself as a form of storage, especially of regeneratively produced energy. However, this principal possibility is confronted with manifold technical difficulties with respect to storage, transport and use.
In the lecture, chemical properties and compounds of hydrogen as well as possible applications resulting from the mentioned compounds will be presented. Likewise, various possibilities of hydrogen production will be reported.
The essential statements of the lecture will be illustrated with descriptive experiments.
