The pre-subject study - Academic Preparation Course (apc) - enables foreign first-year students with a conditional admission to the Bachelor's or Master's programme to prepare for their future studies at the TU Ilmenau.
It is possible to acquire the language skills required for admission to studies and to pass a language test (DSH - Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang or TOEFL - ITP).
Subject-specific prerequisites required for access to the degree programme can also be acquired by attending courses and proven by taking the corresponding examinations.
Furthermore, the pre-subject studies provide insights into the teaching and learning methods commonly used in Germany.
Language preparation for studies
Depending on whether you will be taking a German-language or an English-language course of study, you can take the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH) or the TOEFL (ITP).
Subject-related study preparation
If you need to meet further requirements (e.g. completion of certain subjects) before starting your studies, you can take the subject-specific study preparation as part of the APC.
The subject-related study preparation follows on directly from the successfully completed language study preparation.
Together with a member of staff from the APC, you will draw up a study agreement.
