On Friday, May 24, 2024, Team Starcraft, the Formula Student Team of TU Ilmenau, will celebrate the rollout of its new racing car in the university's Audimaxfrom 3 pm.
ONE TEAM. ONE SPIRIT. ONE RACECAR. Under this motto, students at the TU Ilmenau can discover a world in Team Starcraft that goes far beyond their normal day-to-day studies. Since its foundation in 2006, the student association has set itself the goal of developing racing cars to compete successfully against other university teams from all over the world in Formula Student, an international design competition. The aim of the competition is to prepare students for their future work as engineers. The team has been using purely electrically powered racing cars since 2011 and in 2017 started developing the driverless implementation, i.e. the driverless driving of the racing car using image recognition and image processing methods.
The approximately 30 student members of Team Starcraft, who belong to a wide range of disciplines from mechanical and automotive engineering to electrical engineering and media management, can put the knowledge they have acquired during their studies into practice and gain experience in an interdisciplinary team.
At this year's rollout of the new racing car, interested parties can find out more about the team, the technical developments and the new racing car for the coming season.
