The Universitätsgesellschaft Ilmenau - Freunde, Förderer, Alumni e. V. sees itself as a link for all those who have an interest in the prosperity of TU Ilmenau, in particular in the promotion of its scientific, cultural and student life. It is committed to preserving the tradition and identity of Ilmenau's academic education. One of the University Society's foremost concerns is to have an impact on society, in particular on the economy of the Federal Republic of Germany, combined with the promotion of cooperative relationships between industry and the university.
Founded at the beginning of 2023 under the umbrella of the University Society, the Business Engineering and Information Systems Committee (FA WIW/WI) has set itself the goal of intensifying the connection between graduates of the two degree programs and their alma mater, and in particular the Faculty of Business, Economics and Media
(WM), by focusing on specific subjects and degree programs. Annual conferences are intended to provide a platform for this and at the same time open up opportunities for new cooperation between the TU Ilmenau and companies of alumni and alumnae. The first conference of the FA WIW/WI in November of last year on the topic of "AI and the digital factory" showed that a suitable format was found with the lectures by scientists and practitioners as well as the diverse opportunities for encounters.
The conference planned for 21 and 22 November 2024at the BMW Group Werk Leipzig will offer the opportunity to observe the design of highly efficient, largely digitized processes during a plant tour in addition to the interesting lecture program.
