Advantages of the double Master's degree program

TU Ilmenau

Course of study

The double degree gives students the opportunity to gain international experience and intercultural skills in Spanish-speaking Latin America. In this way, you will be particularly well qualified for a future career in automation technology companies, which often operate internationally. The partner university offers you an alternative elective module area for subject specialization that is not offered at your home university.

The program also gives you the opportunity to write your Master's thesis over the course of a year. This makes it considerably easier to complete experimental theses. The planned one-year stay at the partner university allows you to take advantage of almost all the courses offered at the partner university.

You will write your Master's thesis in English or, by special arrangement, in German or Spanish. The written reports must also be submitted in English or, by special arrangement, in German or Spanish. The oral part of the Master's degree examination is assessed by a binational examination board. All credit points earned by you will be transferred to the grading system of the respective partner university and mutually recognized. The two degree certificates refer to each other and are only valid in conjunction.

Admission requirements

Admission to the double degree program requires you to have successfully completed your Bachelor's degree in Technical Cybernetics and Systems Theory. At the time of your application, you will also need at least A2 level Spanish and B2 level at the start of your semester abroad.

Application procedure

Are you interested? Then apply to the relevant examination board with a letter of motivation. Selection and admission to the program is carried out by a committee consisting of representatives from both universities. If there are several applicants, the grade point average, foreign language skills and level of preparation will be decisive.
