On 1 July, Ilmenau's Science Night will attract young and old alike

When the Ilmenau Science Night attracts young and old to the campus of the TU Ilmenau and the city on July 1, most of the events can be attended without prior registration and all of them are free of charge. The program is now available online at www.ilmenauer-wissenschaftsnacht.de/programm. Here you can not only find out about the 240 program items in advance, but also individually put together a program tailored to your own interests and preferences. Tickets can already be booked for the events for which prior registration is required. The great science adventure is framed by a diverse cultural and music program and an after-show party starting at 10 p.m. on the Ehrenbergwiese on the campus of the TU Ilmenau.

Whether Eco-Funparcour on the market square, several Escape Rooms or the E-racing cars of the Formula Student - at the Ilmenau Science Night it will be exciting. There will be plenty of opportunities for children, young people and adults to get involved: Touching and trying things out are expressly permitted. Whether computer science, physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering or media technology - in demonstrations, experiments and lectures, scientists from the TU Ilmenau, research institutes and companies in the region will reveal the secrets behind amazing phenomena.

Visitors to the Ilmenau Science Night will get a crash course through the world of energy, experience how the invisible becomes visible, go on a robot rally or learn new things about light pollution and sustainable electronics. In the new I3TC, the Ilmenau Interactive Immersive Technologies Center, they experience virtual reality live: they are amazed by deceptively real sound sources or can shoot hoops on a virtual basketball court.

Peeks behind the scenes are also permitted at the Ilmenau Science Night. During a guided tour, visitors can get to know the brand-new university computer center and get their questions answered: Does a backup always make sense? Why do I have to encrypt my e-mail? Do firewalls need to be cleared? What is scientific about scientific computing? Real laboratories of the TU Ilmenau can be explored as well as the high-tech interiors of partner institutes of the university. For example, you can go gem hunting with compressed air and earn a reward or be amazed by amazing research and development topics: From cybersecurity solutions to UVC LED disinfection solutions, to mobile communications and robotics applications on land and sea.
