Felipe Barreto de Souza Martins, a PhD student under the Department of CCS, led by Prof. Domahidi, has been awarded the Best Student Paper by the Global Communication and Social Change division of the International Communication Association for his paper titled "Global Crisis with Divided Research Agendas? A Comparative Review of Brazilian and International Research in Communication on the Covid-19 Pandemic".

His work used a field theory approach to argue that low- and middle-income countries face challenges in participating in international science, limiting the attention and scope their findings receive. The article, consisting of a systematic literature review of communication science articles on COVID-19 in Brazil and International journals, argues that both structural and normative differences between these communities act as barriers of entry for researchers from developing countries, impacting the development of scientific knowledge and future planning of global health events and pandemics.

He is expected to present his work at the annual International Communication Conference on May 29 in Toronto, Canada, where he will have the opportunity to share his findings with other scholars in the field.

Congratulations for this excellent achievement!
