The Technische Universität Ilmenau opens its doors in November for the Children's and Youth University. Children in grades 5 and 6 and young people in grades 7 to 9 who are thirsty for knowledge can attend exciting lectures on science, technology and media - all presented in an age-appropriate way under the highly topical slogan of sustainability. Participants can take part on site at the TU Ilmenau campus and get a taste of real everyday university life or onlinevia livestream. Registration: www.kinderuni-ilmenau.de

Children and young people now have the opportunity to register for participation in the Children's University either on site or via livestream. Entire school classes can only participate online: Children in grades 5 and 6 for Nov. 11 or Nov. 18, and youth in grades 7 through 9 for Nov. 25. Those who want to participate on site at the Unicampus must register by October 28. Those who want to participate virtually from their computer or cell phone have until the day before the event to register and will then receive an access link to participate.

The exciting lectures on science, technology, and media are prepared by the professors in an age-appropriate way, so that children as well as teenagers get their money's worth. The lectures:

For the kids...

  • In the lecture "How are modern cars, cell phones and the like developed today?" the children learn that before we can use everyday objects, quite a lot of preparation is necessary.
  • "Why is the world so colorful?" - the answer to this question takes the young students into the fascinating world of chemistry

... and for the older ones:

  • In "Bits, Energy and Climate Protection", the young people can already take a look at the future of our digital world and they learn that we are already consuming vast amounts of energy with cell phones and computers today.
  • The lecture "From waves to cinema sound - we'll build ourselves an instrument" is not just theory, but exciting practical fun.

So that the children and young people can also get an impression of student life, there is a varied supporting program for them in addition to the lectures: laboratory tours, offers from the university's computer center and numerous student clubs, and even visits to the student clubs. And at lunchtime, the children and young people go to eat in the refectory like real students. Lunch costs no more than 3.35 euros, and the lunch bag only 3.10 euros.
