First Science Camp of the Alliance Thuringian Engineering Sciences

35 students work on solutions for industry

On March 7, 2022, the first one-week Science Camp of the Alliance of Thuringian Engineering Sciences will start at TU Ilmenau in close cooperation with Bauhaus University Weimar. The aim is to get students excited about engineering with exciting questions from industry and research. 35 Bachelor students from the seven universities of the THÜR ING alliance will work together in teams for a week around the topic of 'digital twin' and create a digital image of an object.

The Science Camp teaches the necessary programming skills and offers lectures by the universities and cooperation partners from industry. Joint excursions are also part of the program - such as a visit to the wind tunnel at Bauhaus University Weimar. Getting to know like-minded people across several university locations is also a lot of fun. After a week of tinkering together, the students present their results, and the best of them are awarded prizes.

In the future, similar Science Camps will be held at other locations of the THÜR ING alliance and will form a pillar of the ProTELC (Pro Thuringian Engineering Life Cycle) project. The next one is already planned in half a year. At all times, five students from each university will work in mixed teams on real industrial problems. Joint courses at the universities prepare the Science Camps.
