CCS department at the DGPuK Methods Conference in Hamburg

This autumn, the DGPuK Methods conference took place together with the Digital Communication group. From September 18-20, Julia Niemann-Lenz and Tim Schatto-Eckrodt hosted the conference on "Datafied Communication and Science: Theories, Methods and Challenges" at the University of Hamburg. The Computational Communication Science department was also present with numerous activities this year!
 
Aliya Andrich presented her paper "Beyond Neutrality: A Longitudinal Analysis of Gender, Party, and Media Visibility in the Tone of US Political Coverage".
 
Anke Stoll presented the study "Bias in LLM-Based Classification - Limits in Detecting Various Incivility Towards Female Politicians on Social Media", a collaboration with Aliya Andrich, Jingyuan Yu, and Emese Domahidi.
 
There is also organizational news! Emese Domahidi stepped down as one of the spokespersons of the Methods group. Her position will be taken over by Pablo Jost. Further, team member Maximilian Zehring, together with Heidi Schulze from LMU Munich and Kilian Bühling from FU Berlin, will represent the emerging scholars in the future. The three thanked Anke Stoll and Tim Schatto-Eckrodt for their previous work and the great handover.
