DGPuK Journalism Research Award goes to Johanna Radechovsky

The Journalism Research Section and the Mittelbaunetzwerk Journalismusforschung of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies have awarded the Journalism Research Promotion Prize for the first time. Johanna Radechovsky received it for her dissertation project "Checking the Fact-Check - Why and How German Fact-Checkers Work". For this, she presented her project at the general meeting on September 29, 2022. The prize is endowed with 750 euros and is donated with funds from the specialist group and the Mittelbaunetzwerk. A four-member jury decided on the award in the summer of 2022.

The funded study is part of Johanna Radechovsky's dissertation and examines the motives, strategies, successes and limitations of German fact-checking units in a quantitative, Germany-wide survey. The grant will fund a student assistant to provide support services for the dissemination of the survey and data collection.
