Johanna Radechovsky presents at symposium in Lisbon on the future of journalism

In her presentation at the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC), Johanna Radechovsky, research associate, highlighted key findings from her publication-based dissertation. The presentation introduced a typology of German fact-checking units and showed how these groups differ in their understanding of roles, strategies and challenges. A combination of specialized editorial offices, deliberate deceleration and constructive orientation indicates that fact-checking in Germany places quality above speed and promotes democracy through critical monitoring of institutions.

The second CECC symposium took place on May 12, 2025 at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. The focus was on the changes in journalistic practice and audience behavior triggered by digital technologies as well as the redefinition of transparency, objectivity and epistemology.
