TU Ilmenau, Aynur Sarısakaloğlu

Dr. Aynur Sarısakaloğlu presented her latest research on the use of AI systems in journalism at the 70th Annual Conference of the German Communication Association (DGPuK) on March 21, 2025, held at Freie Universität Berlin.

As part of the panel “Artificial Intelligence in Journalism”, Dr. Sarısakaloğlu delivered a presentation entitled “From Algorithm-Induced Inequalities to the Cosmopolitanization of Research on AI-Supported Journalism.” Her presentation focused on how inclusive scholarly practices can be established to promote a global understanding of AI-supported journalism. Drawing on qualitative and quantitative literature analyses, she explored how prevailing power asymmetries and blind spots shape current research and outlined pathways toward overcoming them, with the aim of advancing a more inclusive and pluralistic scholarly discourse in the field.

In addition, Prof. Martin Löffelholz and Dr. Aynur Sarısakaloğlu participated in the preconference of the DFG Network “Cosmopolitan Communication Studies.” A significant step toward further internationalization was achieved during the conference: The Network’s proposal to establish a new DGPuK working group was approved, with the aim of advancing internationalization efforts in teaching and research and of generating new impulses for inclusive knowledge production within the field.
