TU Ilmenau as one of the most patent active German universities

According to a recent report by the Institute of the German Economy, the TU Ilmenau and its affiliated institutes are the German frontrunners when it comes to patent applications per employee.

Overall, it ranks 8th in the university ranking of the IW patent database. This is made possible - in addition to the outstanding minds at the university and the adjacent institutes - by the work of PATON | Landespatentzentrum Thüringen, which has been dealing with patents, trademarks and designs in research, teaching and practice for over 25 years.
