Creative Material/stock.adobe.comUnder the motto "Beflügelt - International young master pianists in concert", this year's two scholarship holders of the Elfrun Gabriel Foundation will give a varied piano recital in the Audimax of the TU Ilmenau on Wednesday, October 23. The young South Korean pianists Seonghyeon Leem and JungIn Ryu will perform works by Claude Debussy, Sergei Rachmaninov and Robert Schumann as part of the "Music in the Audimax" series. Tickets are available at the box office for 10 euros and for pupils and students for 5 euros. Tickets go on sale at 6:30 pm and the concert starts at 7:30 pm.
The Elfrun Gabriel Foundation, established in 2012 in memory of the former internationally renowned pianist, supports outstanding young pianists. Every year, a jury selects two musicians from among the best piano students at the Leipzig University of Music and Performing Arts "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" and supports them with an annual scholarship, which helps them at the start of their careers in a variety of ways, including participation in international competitions and performance opportunities, traditionally also at TU Ilmenau. This year, the two music students Seonghyeon Leem and JungIn Ryu received the coveted scholarship.
JungIn Ryu plays:
Robert Schumann Symphonic Etudes op. 13
