The Technische Universität Ilmenau today (25.10.2022) received the TOTAL-E-QUALITY award for equal opportunities for the sixth time in a row. At an official ceremony in Erfurt, with guests from business, science and administration invited from all over Germany, the jury recognized the successful and sustainable implementation of diversity and equal opportunities in organizational and human resources policies: "Equal opportunities are anchored in the TU's mission statement and integrated as a cross-sectional task in important strategic documents, quality management and steering instruments."

In 2006, the TU Ilmenau was the first Thuringian university to successfully apply for the award. Continuously, it was able to convince with its goals, concepts and measures in the reapplications at three-year intervals in all fields of action. One of the most recent efforts in holistic equality and diversity work is the establishment of the Division Equality, Diversity and Health, under the purview of the university's president. "Especially in today's environment, it is necessary to consider cross-cutting issues as well. These are becoming increasingly important for internal university processes and are therefore part of our university's strategic orientation. With the establishment of the unit, we are taking this task into account and taking a targeted look at interdependencies," says Prof. Dr. Sattler, President of TU Ilmenau.

The task of the TU Ilmenau is, among other things, to identify the requirements and needs of the new generation of university employees in a dialog-oriented process and to develop appropriate structures and offers. This includes, among other things, the internationalization strategy, participation in the Stifterverband's "Shaping Diversity" audit, the targeted promotion of women at academic career levels, and the family-friendly and health-promoting design of the working environment in teaching, research and administration. Beyond its own institution, the TU Ilmenau focuses on professional and collegial exchange and actively participates in about 20 regional and supraregional networks.
