WILEY Blackwell Verlag, AnLi Fotografie IlmenauDr. phil. habil. Aynur Sarısakaloğlu and Prof. Dr. Martin Löffelholz from TU Ilmenau have set a significant milestone in the interdisciplinary study of artificial intelligence (AI) and journalism with the publication of “The Handbook of Artificial Intelligence and Journalism”.
“AI is transforming journalism more profoundly, rapidly, and comprehensively than any previous technology. This handbook provides guidance and opens new perspectives for research and practice”, says Dr. phil. habil. Sarısakaloğlu.
A total of 37 leading scholars from six continents contributed to the volume. Across 28 chapters, they analyze the algorithmic transformation of journalism across key thematic areas.
Published by Wiley, the handbook demonstrates how AI-driven systems are reshaping media organization structures, the roles of actors, the journalistic value chain, and the ways audiences engage with mediated content.
“Readers can expect a global overview of the dynamics of AI-driven journalism as well as innovative impulses for future research”, adds Prof. Löffelholz.
By integrating theoretical, empirical, and practice-oriented perspectives, the handbook outlines a research agenda that deepens and expands the understanding of the sociotechnical developments transforming AI-driven journalism in a global context.
