Directions

By plane you can reach Erfurt-Weimar Airport, which is only 40 kilometers away from Ilmenau. From here, travel to Erfurt main station and take the train to Ilmenau. Or you can land in Berlin and take the ICE to Erfurt and from there the train connection to Ilmenau.

By car The TU Ilmenau can be reached via the A71 highway. Coming from the north on the A4, take the A71 towards Schweinfurt at the Erfurt interchange. After about 30 kilometers, leave the freeway at the Ilmenau-Ost exit and follow the signs for "Universität" at the first traffic circle. Coming from the south from Nuremberg/Schweinfurt, take the Ilmenau-West exit towards Ilmenau and follow the signs for "Universität".

By train you can reach Erfurt by ICE train from all directions. From here there is a regular shuttle service to Ilmenau and back.
