New manual "Management and Economics of Communication" with Ilmenau participation

In the Handbooks of Communcation Science series, a new volume on the Management and Economics of Communication (Berlin: DeGruyter) has been published. Two Thuringian authors are also represented in the volume edited by M. B. von Rimscha (University of Mainz): Prof. Dr. Oliver Budzinski (Department of Economic Theory, Ilmenau University of Technology) and Prof. Dr. Björn A. Kuchinke (Chair of Media Economics, Bauhaus University Weimar) contribute the chapter "Industrial Organization of Media Markets and Competition Policy" (pp. 21-45). In this chapter they present the modern economic theory of digital markets and the state of media economics and discuss conclusions for appropriate competition rules.

In the handbook, renowned authors from all over the world present the state of the art of research on a variety of topics in modern media and communication economics. Chapters include: Approaches from Strategic Management, Political Economy, Quantitative Methods, Qualitative Methods, Convergence, Content Platforms, Media Concentration, Innovation & Creativity, Marketing Models for Media Products and Branding.
