Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation supports interdisciplinary research by Benedikt Schmal

Connex funding for the “Boards Backing Out” project

Benedikt Schmal, Senior Researcher in the Department of Economic Theory at TU Ilmenau, has successfully acquired third-party funding for the research project “Boards Backing Out: The Costs and Benefits of Parting Ways”. It is joint work with Laura Rothfritz, an information scientist at the Institute for Library and Information Science (IBI) at Humboldt University of Berlin. The Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation is supporting the two young scientists as part of its “Connex” funding program with a high four-figure sum, enabling them to spend a research stay in the Netherlands, among other things.

The Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation is continuing the charitable legacy of the former HARIBO co-owner with the aim of supporting and sustainably supporting young people in shaping the future. The founder saw education as the core ingredient of highly developed societies and the basis for competitiveness, progress, and social well-being. Accordingly, the outstanding purpose of the Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation is to promote education for young people who are willing to learn and achieve—especially in the MINT area.
