Project "VEDIAS-VR" approved!

VEDIAS - digital, international study programs with Social VR (VEDIAS-VR)

Within the VEDIAS-VR project, the Technische Universität Ilmenau is supplementing its range of courses with three internationally oriented master's programs that can be studied online. All three courses have been internationally successful for years as face-to-face formats.

Our department is responsible for the conception and development of a multilingual, open source-based collaboration platform (learning/teaching/examination/study organization, social VR application) that spans multiple disciplines and universities.

Among other things, the VR application is used as a virtual meeting and experience space for the digital development of student support services. The Social VR application will integrate four areas: a virtual experimental lecture hall, a virtual seminar room, a virtual project/laboratory room (as a replacement for access to complex laboratory facilities that previously required face-to-face study) and the virtual campus lobby for informal encounters within the "digital campus family" or at introductory "meet and greet" events.
