Mr. Rahul MITRA is a postdoctoral researcher in the Functional Materials Group since June 2025. He is pursuing a joint PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at RMIT University, Australia and Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), India. His current work supports the Carl Zeiss Foundation (CZS) funded project ELFISENS, which aims to develop a non-contact EEG system that measures electric fields in close proximity to the scalp using highly sensitive fiber optic sensors, 3D-printed piezoelectric structures and advanced signal processing methods for convenient, wearable long-term monitoring. He completed an integrated double degree (MTech + PhD) in engineering at CSIR-IMMT under AcSIR, specializing in the synthesis and characterization of ferroelectric and piezoelectric ceramics, thin films and polymer nanocomposites.

Mr. Tianyu XING has been doing his doctorate at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Ilmenau since January 2024. He received his Master's degree from the Department of Macromolecular Sciences at Fudan University in China and his Bachelor's degree in Polymer Materials and Engineering from Qingdao University of Science and Technology. After graduation, he worked as a research assistant at the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers at Fudan University. Since joining Ilmenau University of Technology, he has been conducting research on high-performance conductive polymer-based composite materials, focusing on the development and optimization of material systems for wearable and flexible electronic applications.

Mr. Han YANG joined the Functional Materials Group in April 2025. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Ilmenau School of Green Electronics (ISGE) under the supervision of Prof. Hongye Sun and Prof. Patrick Fiedler. He received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Department of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at South China University of Technology (SCUT). Before joining TU Ilmenau, he worked as a battery digitization engineer at Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) from 2023 to 2024. His research focuses on the development of highly stretchable and adaptable conductors for multimodal sensors on the skin.

Dr. Chen YAO has been a visiting scientist in the Functional Materials Group since 1 May 2025. She has been a lecturer at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of South China since July 2016. Dr. Yao received her bachelor's and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from Sichuan University. Her research focuses on multistimuli responsive high-strength hydrogel actuators and flexible gel-based wearable sensors.
