The University is managed by a Presidential Board consisting of the President, the Vice President for Teaching and Learning, the Vice President for Research and Young Sientists, the Vice President for International Affairs and Transfer, and the Chancellor.
The President is elected by the University Assembly by a majority of the votes of its members and additionally by a majority of the votes of the university teachers. He chairs the Presidential Board and represents the university externally. The Vice President for Teaching and Learning heads the Senate Committee for Teaching and Learning (Studies Committee) in permanent representation of the President. The Vice President for Research and Young Scientists chairs the Senate Committee for Research and Young Scientists (Research Committee). The Vice President for International Affairs and Transfercoordinates the international activities and supports the expansion of the transfer measures of the TU Ilmenau. The Chancellor is responsible for personnel, financial, facility and legal matters. He is responsible for the budget.
