Registration

Once you have decided on one of our language courses, please follow these steps:

1. Once you have received your conditional offer and wish to enrol on one of our language courses, simply register online via the link above.
2. When registering for the language courses, please enter all the requested and relevant details. Please also ensure that you spell everything correctly.
3. Select the booking package on offer for the relevant semester.
4. Follow the remaining steps as indicated.
5. Following your booking, you will receive a detailed invoice by email covering the costs for one semester of language study.
6. Please transfer the invoice amount to the specified account. Please ensure you use the payment reference specified on the invoice! You will only be able to take part in the language placement test and the language courses once the transfer has been completed in full. PLEASE NOTE: If any transaction fees are incurred during the transfer, please ensure that these are paid by you.
7. As soon as the money has been credited to our account, you will receive a payment confirmation and your binding booking confirmation. This email will also contain detailed instructions on how to proceed!
8. Once you have these documents, you can apply for a visa. PLEASE NOTE: Book an appointment with the relevant authority or embassy straight away. Do not wait too long! Processing your visa application may take a long time!
9. Please arrive on time for the language placement test and bring your passport, your conditional offer of admission and your booking confirmation with you. You will receive all the necessary information by email shortly before the language placement test.
10. Once you have completed the language placement test, you will be notified of the result. If you have passed, you will also receive an offer of a place on the M, O or exam preparation course.
11. Please let us know your decision in a brief email. Within a few days, you will receive a course agreement, a study agreement and the course materials required for the course.
12. You can now enrol as a student on the preparatory programme at Technische Universität Ilmenau. 

_{*) A refund is possible within two years of the registration date, subject to a cancellation fee of 50 per cent of the total price, upon written request, provided that you have successfully registered for the language placement test, made the payment and submitted the relevant documents to the embassy. Once the course has started (language placement test), cancellation and refunds are not permitted.}

To take part in the language courses, you can arrive as early as one semester before your first semester of enrolment. 

Please refer to your conditional offer of admission for details of your first semester of enrolment. 

No, that’s not possible. 

You can only enrol for the language programme for a whole semester. 

Before you can enrol on courses to fulfil the academic requirements for your admission, you must first fulfil the language requirement, i.e. provide a language certificate at the required level. 

It is NOT possible to attend both courses at the same time.

Upon acceptance of the course agreement for the German as a Foreign Language (DaF) language courses, you will receive a study agreement and thus the opportunity to enrol as a student on the preparatory programme. 

You can/must enrol by 30 October in the winter semester or 30 April in the summer semester.

If there are any remaining places available on individual courses, these may be allocated even without conditional admission. 

You will be provided with all the books and course materials required for the language lessons at the start of the course. Further materials and assignments will be made available to you on our Moodle platform. You will receive the link to the platform at the start of the language course.

If you are unable to attend the language placement test in Ilmenau, please let us know by email. We will try to arrange a later date for you. However, if you are unable to arrive within the specified timeframe, your booking will automatically be postponed to the following semester. There is no charge for this, and you will receive a new booking confirmation with updated details.

When you enrol on the language courses, you will receive the following documents:

- Invoice

- Payment confirmation

- Booking confirmation

These documents, together with your conditional offer of admission and your personal documents, are usually sufficient to apply for a visa for Ilmenau. 

All the language courses take place in person in Ilmenau.
