Kurs & Kosten

We offer a semester-long English course as part of the pre-subject course (APC).

This comprises a total of 250 semester hours per week, spread over 10 semester weeks.

The content of the course includes

- Grammar

- Business English

- work in and on specialist presentations from your chosen degree courses

- Writing, especially academic writing

- phonetics

- regional studies

- mock exams (TOEIC / TOEFL ITP)

The course concludes with an exam that qualifies you to study at Ilmenau University of Technology. This is either a TOEFL ITP or TOEIC exam, whereby the TOEIC exam covers the listening, structure/reading, writing and speaking sections.

You will be assigned the appropriate type of exam based on your chosen course of study at the TU Ilmenau. Only participants who have attended at least 80% of the course are admitted to the exam (exceptions are illness, etc.).

You pay a total of 1,950 euros for the course we offer.

The course costs include

- Placement test

- Course as described on the left

- Course materials & mock exams

- 1 test attempt with normal correction speed

For the duration of the course, you will be enrolled as a fellow at Ilmenau University of Technology, receive a thoska card and thus benefit from many of the advantages of a student.

The courses take place exclusively in presence in Ilmenau.

*) A refund after successful registration for the language entrance test, successful payment and issuance of embassy-relevant documents is possible within 2 years from the date of registration against a cancellation fee of 50% of the total price upon written request.

If you have a confirmed booking which you are unable to fulfill due to delays in the issuing of visas, the booking will automatically be postponed free of charge to the semester following the semester in which you booked the course.
