Media bias in women's magazines: do advertisements influence editorial contents?. - Ilmenau : Ilmenau University of Technology, Institute of Economics, 2015. - 1 Online-Ressource (34 Seiten). - (Ilmenau economics discussion papers ; no. 99)

Existing theoretical and empirical studies on Media Bias are subjects of controversial discussions in the literature. However, scientific literatures on Media Bias establish empirical evidence for a positive impact of advertising volume on media coverage. To get in line with the debated literature about whether biases occur, this economic paper presents an empirical analysis of a possible (commercial) Media Bias influenced by advertising expenditure in monthly women's magazines. The results of a linear panel model regression, a panel poisson regression, as well as those of a panel negative binomial regression model show that there is a positive correlation with the amount of advertising expenditure on the coverage of a company that purchased advertisements on the women's magazines in Germany. A positive correlation between advertising volume and the nomination as well as prize winning of (cosmetic) products could also be found.

Movie success in a genre specific contest : evidence from the US film industry. - Ilmenau : Ilmenau University of Technology, Institute of Economics, 2015. - 1 Online-Ressource (circa 20 Seiten). - (Ilmenau economics discussion papers ; no. 98)Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe

This article examines the economic effect of computer animation movie success by using data from all widely released feature length movies between 2011 and 2014, and all computer animated movies in North America between 1995 and 2014. We show that computer animated movies successfully attract families, parents, children, and teenagers and outperform other major movie genres (e.g., action, com-edy or drama). This research sample also provides initial evidence that, counter to industry thinking in the film business, stardom is not directly associated with movie success.

Conception of a workflow for the semi-automatic construction of a thesaurus for the German printing industry. - In: Re:inventing information science in the networked society, (2015), S. 217-229

During the BMWI granted project "Print-IT", the need of a thesaurus based uniform and consistent language for the German printing industry became evident. In this paper we introduce a semi-automatic construction approach for such a thesaurus and present a workflow which supports users to generate thesaurus typical information structures from relevant digitalized resources with the help of common IT-tools.

Recommendations for a general IT Service Catalogue structure. - In: Enterprise modelling and information systems architectures, ISSN 1866-3621, Bd. 10 (2015), 1, S. 89-108

IT Service Catalogues (ITSCs) make an important contribution to the administration and distribution of IT products. It is often particularly difficult to draw up a structural concept of an IT Service Catalogue, as appropriate examples are scarce. In the future, advanced ITSCs will be especially important in attracting external customers. So, a practical structure for the ITSC is important. Different perspectives and approaches for structuring an ITSC can be found in the literature, but the total number of works on this topic is relatively small. This article combines an analysis of the literature with consultation of business experts to determine the requirements for ITSC structuring and to formulate a design proposal. This stands out due to several levels of description in combination with a view concept, through which opposing needs can be met. The proposal is illustrated by means of a case study.
