"Climate Change, Environmental Protection and Sustainability: Our Future, Our Responsibility There is no Plan(et) B!": Under this motto, the Initiative Solidarische Welt Ilmenau again invites students from all over the world to participate in the International Students' Week Ilmenau (ISWI) from 26 May to 8 June 2021 and discuss the topics of climate change, environmental protection and sustainability. The ISWI is the largest student conference in Germany with participants from over 70 nations and is distinguished from many similar events by its large thematic share: What are the effects of urbanization, immense industrial growth, pollution and population explosion? What is the role of deforestation, carbon emissions and depletion of natural resources? Participants are invited to think about and discuss current problems and solutions related to environmental change.

To round off the overall concept, there will also be a varied, cultural supporting program throughout the week. Due to the ongoing Corona pandemic, the program will take place online this year.

The ISWI has been organized by students of the TU Ilmenau every two years since 1993. Each ISWI has a main topic related to current societal challenges and developments, which is examined from different angles during the conference in working groups, discussion rounds, as well as public lectures and debates. Top-class speakers will be invited to support the content-related work during the week with their experience, knowledge and ideas. The aim is for different cultures, professors, experts, students and people from the region to exchange ideas with each other, to point out problems and try to find possible solutions.
