The Université de Lorraine (UL) is a public university in the French region of Lorraine, which was established in 2012 from the merge of the University of Nancy and the University of Metz. With around 62,000 students, it is one of the largest universities in France and it has the status of a Grand établissement.
Nancy is a French city with 105,000 inhabitants, whose old town is characterized by buildings from the Middle Ages and early modern times. The squares Stanislas, de la Carrière and d'Alliance, one of the most important ensembles of enlightened-absolutist town planning, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1983.
It is a unique AI (artificial intelligence) engineering program with domain knowledge in communications and signal processing. Both universities have collaborated in pioneering research on tensor-based signal processing for many years. These techniques extend matrix-based algorithms to more than two dimensions to deal more efficiently with multi-dimensional data.
The integrated structure of the program, with mutual recognition of study and examination achievements, enables you to acquire not only specialist and language skills, but also intercultural skills.
The part of the degree program jointly run by the partners begins for you in the 3rd semester at UL. You will then study in France until the end of your 3rd semester. The study regulations for the Communications and Signal Processing Master’s program at TU Ilmenau define the subjects to be taken at UL.
You will write your Master's thesis in the 4th semester either at the TU Ilmenau or at the UL under the supervision of professors from both universities. After successfully completing all the required course and research work, you will receive the degrees Master of Science and Master Ingénierie.
As a student at TU Ilmenau, admission to the integrated binational degree program requires admission to the Communications and Signal Processing Master’s degree program and above-average academic performance.
It is recommended that you improve your French language skills during your studies.
Are you interested? Then apply to the program coordinator with a letter of motivation in English. Selection and admission to the program is made by the examination board of the Communications and Signal Processing degree program. The decision is based on your average grade and your foreign language skills.
